The C-Word
Curse
words are used by people with low intelligence!
Curse words are
offensive!
Curse words are only
used when someone does not know or cannot find the right word!
Growing up in a
Pentecostal household, I have heard sayings like this and much more. In my 38
years, I have spoken to and heard from people who abhor curse words.
I began this blog not
caring about censoring my thoughts, just for the sake of political correctness.
I dislike censorship, about as much as I dislike nonprofits who post poetry and
art competition scams in prisons nationwide. Offering mediocre prizes and no
royalty, as penance. Tricking inmates into believing that their work and the
rights to their work is only worth the one-time submission; and a prayer at the
first, second, and third place prizes.
It is my belief that
Censorship and Political Correctness have become the teat of entitlement on
which Americans feed. A word is a word, and the word only holds the meaning it
was assigned upon its conception. The power given to that word is something
else entirely!
I wonder how that
works anyways. Someone hears a word, gets offended for the first time,
convinces someone else that the word is or should be offensive, those two share
the story, and some people agree while others don't.
Now, we have another
word to add to the ever-growing wall of offense, Hmm......Whelp!
BEHIND THE EYES! Is
not just a publication, but a platform! Both the publication and platform will
be the product of, and work alongside the publishing company. To that end, the
platform is as much of a business as the business I am creating. I have decided
to re-edit my first few posts, removing excessive cursing, and making their
contents more digestible for a larger target audience.
This is a business
decision that I am making for myself and my content only.
I am not forcing, nor will not force
compliance, mediate, police, etc. Future Freelancers or anyone who chooses to
post on this blog (Outside of the previously mentioned SS and FU-SS above!). I
believe in and promote speaking your piece and telling your truth.
In closing, I was
raised to dislike, not use, and hate curse words and anything to do with them.
Because of this, I was introduced late to some of the most talented lyrical
architects I have ever heard.
Personally, my
understanding grew when I stopped denying literary works based on preconceived
biases by cultural influences.
Translation... Live a
little!
